Companion Pack

The Reason to Quit the best Companion
I have been smoking for the better part of 2 years now. That alone might not seem like a big deal to most veteran smokers far and wide... but... focus on the fact that i just hit 21 and im doing 3 large packs... a day. Shocked now? I'm guessing so are those veteran smokers.
It was love at first taste... I started two and a half ago, not coz of a dudes insistance, a groups pressure or to SEEM cool, although my freinds will probably tell you that THAT must be why, I just wasnt that cool in my early years, but seriously, i started out of curiosity. I was a science major in O-levels and adored biology and workings of the human body, so naturally i wondered what it feels like when the filtered smoke from that burnt tobacco fills the mouth, journeys down the throat and enters into the depths of the lungs.. sounds euphoric doesnt it? Well it feels euphoric aswell!
I loved it! It Aroused my senses, my emotions.. Dude i felt excited and relaxed at the same time, how does that happen? but it was happening. Even though it was a light menthol brand, yes in my smoker infancy i got high on a flaky menthol cigarette. In a few weeks though i had really upgraded from a shy menthol to a dominating, double sized hard brand. Those were the BOMB, literally. Everytime that smoke decended down my throat it was like trying to swallow stones. And in a few drags my head was like the far end of a ferris wheel.
And since then lighting up each time was like an adventure, it went on and on and soon my thirst became unquenchable. I was in every sense of the word hooked.
Every event and every situation i could underline with a smoke.. if I felt tense i'd have a smoke to release the tension, if I felt happy, i'd light up a smoke to celebrate, accomplished something? the gift of triumph would be that little freind in my hand. It became my best freind. We'd go video gaming together, play sports and win together, score and get shot down together. That little guy was the best of companions, always by my side to suit my every mood. But soon things changed.
The changes weren't dramatic like a Scorsese picture but more gradual, like a Grisham novel. I preferred not to play sports anymore, slacked in keeping up my responsibilities and the muscles wrapped on my arms and legs began to unravel and in a few months time i dramatically lost weight. Not in the sexy way but in the dude you got cancer? kind of way. All that i had read and ignored about smoking had caught up to me.
Smoking destroys the body from the inside as im sure most of you know but what you dont know is the espionage way it goes about that task of destruction before eventually leading to extremes like Lung cancer, Dementia and mouth cancer. Smoking decreases stamina and if you go about doing it defiantly like your Superman it'll literally waste it to a point where your weezing like some 80year old dude coming back from a round-trip to the friendly neighborhood grocery store..just under the building!. Athletic performance is practically out the window since you cant even go to the store without stopping and catching your breath a few times. But i think the most important, well to me anyway, is that it ridiculously diminishes your sexual performance and drive. I'm 21 but in bed, sometimes i feel like im 40, no offence to the uncles, im just trying to make a point.
Smoking is very addictive, just a few clicks below the addictive power of heroin, you feel this huge sense of dependence that you absolutely must have a smoke or continue suffering the weird emptiness in your gut. For me, this is very insulting because i feel its weakness. Yes, I do have a huge ego, but its not just about that. Smoking was infact slowing me down.
So, i decided to TRY and quit it but its getting very hard because of the temptation, like all destructive habits, smoking is oh so tempting. Even if I see a freind smoking Im back to where i was and each crash is worst than the last. At this point if your thinking I lack will power, let me tell you I lost 20 kg in 2months by cardio and boxing, true story. Now you see here its more like growing weak for one particular thing or like feeling yourself being dragged back in, see when i fail Al Pacino words "i was out but they pulled me back in" straight from the Godfather ring in my head. I am still in the process and I am confident that i will give it up, for now. I have a plan this time, the plan is to reach that goal, and the goal is not simple but worth it. A better body. Not for show but for my own satisfaction, I dont care what anyone says, when i look in that mirror, i want to be frickin impressed.
For those of you out there like me out there and taking the time to read this, know that it will not be easy, allow yourself a few crashes, don't beat yourself up for them. Just don't give up, remember why your doing it.. no matter what.. the grass is greener on the other side.

what common things should I pack for a 3 week vacation to Europe?
I will be traveling with 3 other companions. The Majority of the time we will be staying with relatives. Any unusual or helpful tips regarding what to pack or what to remember would be great.
Thanks everyone for taking the time to answer : )
ammmm you're going to EUROPE, not africa/asia... there is no problem what so ever with the water - in fact, it's some of the purest in the world as it comes straight from the alps! so 9banded, don't rely too much on tv!!!!
the travel adapter's good advice, though your relatives may already have this. also, make sure you carry one set of woolens, e.g. a sweater/jumper, light jacket and comfortable sports/walking shoes. make sure you take one set of formal wear with you, e.g.
men - full suit with formal shoes (no sports stuff)
women - national costume or formal shirt, trousers/skirt (not jeans!!), shoes
this will ensure that you can get entry to the upper class places, in case you happen to go (e.g. casinos, clubs, top notch restaurants, operas, etc.)
either than that, don't pack one set of clothing per day.. take some light clothing (maybe 5 sets) that you can keep interchanging.
enjoy!
