New York Jets vs Indianapolis Colts 2010 AFC Championship Predictions: For the first time ever in NFL history, the 2010 AFC Championship Predictions Game will be a rematch of a past Super Bowl matchup, as the smash-mouth, trash-talking underdogs, New York Jets [+8] try and upset the finesse/crafty, sports betting odds favorites, Indianapolis Colts [-8] this afternoon. The moment of truth is finally here, as both teams will be hyped up and ready to play, beginning at 3:05 PM ET (12:05 PM PT), live from Lucas Oil Stadium on CBS Sports.
For the New York Jets, they’re trying to become just the second team in NFL history to reach the Super Bowl by winning three road playoff games. The last team to accomplish such feat was the 2005 Pittsburgh Steelers, who went on to take home the hardware that year. "This is the AFC championship," Jets head coach Rex Ryan said. "The motivation is going to come from the fact that the winner of this game advances to the Super Bowl. That's probably motivation enough."
In a way, Indianapolis Colts head coach Jim Caldwell can be in part, credited or blamed (depending on which team you root for) for what the Jets have done in this postseason. By waiving the white flag and sitting his starters during the second half of their Week 16 meeting, Caldwell practically kept the Jets’ playoff hopes alive, as he killed the idea of a perfect season for Indy fans.
"I told them we wanted to end the regular season fresh, ready and well prepared," Caldwell said. "I believe we did. It doesn't give you any guarantees. It's what you believe in and your convictions and playing well when it comes time."
With home-field advantage tucked in his back pocket, Caldwell sat quarterback Peyton Manning and other starters on December 27 in Indy. Fellow first-year coach Ryan and the Jets then mounted a furious comeback and ended the Colts’ NFL-record 23-game regular season winning streak with a 29-15 win. Somehow I get the feeling Ryan will not be so lucky to have things be that easy this time around.
“I don't know if Santa Claus will be that good to me again,” Ryan said with a smile. “But I will say that I'd like to see Peyton Manning play this week.”
As for Manning, who stood on the sidelines with his arms crossed while his coach forfeited a unique shot at a historic perfect season, something positive must come out of all the negativity of their Week 16 loss to New York.
"Against these guys, the more familiar you are with them, the better chance it gives you," Manning said. "It doesn't guarantee anything, but it does give you a better chance. That's the focus right now: trying to get prepared mentally and physically to play a good game."

Indy Colts, Baltimore Ravens and Super Bowls?
Now that Baltimore and Indy have both won Super Bowls with their new (borrowed) teams are their fans over the animosity? The Ravens look to be serious contenders and the Colts obviously won it all, so is everyone happy now?
I am wondering about Cleveland though? How should they feel? If Indy took the Colts, then Baltimore took the Browns, isn't Cleveland due to win sometimes? Just curious?
By the way, was anybody else surprised to see Brady commit the biggest choke in the history of the AFC Championship? I wasn't "happy" but was glad to see the people that were Manning and Colt bashers have to eat their words. Maybe it does take an entire team. Just some points to ponder.
Try not to be a hater in your responses please.
Lots of questions here. I guess you don't like to post them separately.
A whole generation of fans has come along since the Colts left Baltimore. The Ravens are tough and have won the SB. Why should Baltimore care about the Colts more than any other team? You have to win the games and that's what counts. Who cares what some old fart sitting in a bar remembering Johnny Unitas thinks? The Ravens don't need Unitas, the uniforms, or the logo to represent Baltimore.
I'm REALLY tired of the "Manning chokes - Brady chokes" crapola that goes back and forth. Fer cryin' out loud what do you expect of these guys?
If Brady had a bad game (and he is entitled to one now and then) maybe it was the weight of those Super Bowl rings that threw his balance off.
Maybe Manning and the Colts are a pretty good team after all. Could they have learned something by playing the Patriots? Probably! Maybe Manning had to gain some experience. Maybe his team was not as good when he was drafted. Maybe we just don't know enough about the position to make any educated statements.
PLEASE let this stupid topic die!!!
