Tributes To Multiple Bands in a Single Show!

Here's the first article with "tribute band" as the target phrase.

While some might describe Platinum Rockstars Superstar Show as a "tribute band", they might be leaving out some detail. Platinum Rockstars is a tribute band that performs tributes to multiple bands in a single show, making it a "showy cover band" or a "multi-tribute band". You say po-tay-toe, I say po-ta-toe.

In Los Angeles, rock tribute bands abound. The allure of Hollywood, Los Angeles, Orange County, San Diego, Las Vegas as well as the venerable Musician's Institute means that many talented rock musicians become residents of LA. The whole vibe of Los Angeles and Hollywood make it a breeding ground for 80s-style rock guitarists, groovy 70s-style drummers and bassists, not to mention rock vocalists. The plethora of musicians also means that there are a LOT of tribute bands in Los Angeles.

So how does a new tribute band set itself apart from all the other Los Angeles tribute bands out there in a market so saturated with musical talent? This question was firmly in mind when Platinum Rockstars founders David Victor and Glenn Jost first conceived of the idea of a rock superstar revue.

With so many 70s and 80s tribute bands already around, David and Glenn wanted to make sure that their show gave LA's jaded classic rock audience the most amazing live rock 'n roll experience imaginable. David had already been part of one of Los Angeles' most respected 70s tribute band, "Smokin'", a tribute to the music of legendary classic rockers Boston.

Boston wrote and performed some fantastic music, no doubt about that", says Victor. "But we sort of ran out of steam after the recognizable hit songs were played. Our audiences were not always hardcore Boston fans, rather more general classic rock fans. A lot of them knew Boston's biggest hits...but we'd lose them once we started playing songs that weren't played on the radio."

Platinum Rockstars takes the tribute band concept and turns it on its ear. The show is part tribute -- the cast of the show wear costumes and mimics the personalities and playing styles of the original band members -- and part traditional cover band -- they play only the most recognizable hit songs of the artists they emulate.

Currently Platinum Rockstars performs tributes to 60s and 70s rock bands including Led Zeppelin, The Who, Boston, Foreigner, Journey and 80s rock bands including Van Halen, Def Leppard and Bon Jovi. The cast changes costumes multiple times throughout each show.

"The show is really great fun to perform," say David Victor. "The Platinum Rockstars Superstar Show is a great way to express myself musically. All the bands we do had a huge influence on me when I started getting into rock 'n roll, playing guitar, singing and writing my own music. It's a blast and a total rush to play these parts and do this music!"

Formed at the beginning of 2009, Platinum Rockstars is already a heavyweight on the Los Angeles and Las Vegas circuits. The show made their debut at the Brea Summerfest opening for Pat Benatar and the Santa Clarita Summer Concert Series, appearing before a crowd of more than ten thousand classic rock music lovers.
