Why does Philadelphia suck so bad in sports?
For all of you Philadelphians, I'm not badmouthing the history, so don't give me your BS complaints about the history.
Let's observe:
Eagles: 0 Super Bowls (They recently faced the Patriots in 2004, but they lost. They could've had the perfect opportunity)
Flyers: Only 2 Stanley Cups (Those were 35-36 YEARS ago. The Flyers might have won many Eastern Conference Championships, but other than 73-74 and the 74-75 season, they LOST the Finals in those other years that they won their conference titles)
76ers (A pathetic team, even the Celtics are WAY better than these Clowns. It's been 25 years since the Sixers won an NBA Championship!)
Philles (They haven't done Jack Squat since 1980! Even the Mets are way better than these losers. OK, you recently won the 2007 NL East Division title, but you lost after that)
So, please give me your opinions about this.
Well let's see...the Eagles DID win three NFL championships in the pre-super bowl era... and total they have 3 conference titles and 11 division titles.
Overall, the 76ers have 3 nba championships, 5 conference titles and 11 division wins. That's a nice history. There are many teams who can't boast anything close to that.
As for Hockey, 2 Stanley Cups is nothing to scoff at... even if it was a long time ago.
The Phillies have a single World Series title, 5 National League pennants, and 7 division titles.
All in all, maybe there hasn't been a whole lot of success in Philadelphia sports in recent years... but there's been some, and overall Philly has some fairly storied sports franchises. There are teams out there that have no championships, no conference championships and few if any division titles... so if you live in Philly I'd consider yourself lucky to have had so much succes in the past, and keep supporting your teams and hoping for more in the future.
One last thing... getting to a championship game or series is a pretty big achievement, even if a team does lose. Don't downgrade that.
