We make cement table tops for fire pits 44x44 round and sq. 1 in. thick?
we use rebarr in the middle but we are having alot of cracks and breakage. What is the right formula to use in the cement to avoid this???
In addition to the other answerers, who I also agree with, one inch may not be thick enough. One inch dries pretty quickly, which you need to slow down--but I think you need to make the piece thicker. Cement is not that expensive--so why don't you experiment with making a 2 inch thick piece to see how it cures?
I make ground level wading bowls for wildlife and I use plastic to cover them while they cure. No cracking.
