What's the song Hallelujah about?
The original by Leanard Cohen, and covers by Rufus Wainright and Alexandra Burke from X Factor? What is it about? Is it to do with christmas? Or something christian?
Maggoty Anne has it right. Beautiful rich song. It was written and performed first by Leonard Cohen, probrably the most famous cover was done by Jeff Buckley and I have to say is my fav version as well. Others that have done it are K.D. Lang, Brandi Carlile, and many others. The song plays off of King Solomons experience in the bible and a romantic entanglment with Delilah who betrayed him and had his hair cut off and his eyes gouged out, after all of this the King still sings the Lords praises and returns to Him, hence "Hallelujah". In the book of Judges I believe.
